House in London – the magic of baked bricks

In a traditional London house, we created an open plan communal space linking the kitchen, dining and living areas. Breaking down partitions created a flowing interior with a double-sided seating bar that encourages communication. The result is a modern, fresh home that retains its historic charm.

Design Solution Overview

Designing an open plan communal space in a traditional English house is a challenge. A typical London development has small rooms and a structured floor plan that often divides rather than connects. But here we decided to go a different route.

➡️ We knocked down a few partitions to create a flowing space where the kitchen, dining room and living room function as one living centre of the house. The kitchen became an imaginary boundary between the zones – not only aesthetically, but also functionally.

➡️ A double-sided seating bar allows communication between those who are cooking and those who are enjoying a glass of wine or breakfast. An interactive and natural connection that gives the house a whole new dimension.

This London home has been given a fresh, modern soul without losing its historic charm.
